Christmas Message

A Christmas Message and New Years Wishes from the RWYCI
Untitled document

May we take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and good sailing with fair winds in 2015.

We plan to hold a Club New-Years get together on Friday January 16th 2015 in the Haven Arms at 20.00 hrs with finger food supplied for all who attend.  Please come along to support the Club in brainstorming concepts of new events for 2015/2016; which will be attractive for all sailors to compete in, especially now that the Marina is being revitalised with greatly improved facilities for the future.

Possible RWYCI Events for 2015 will include the following:

  • Yacht Racing in White Sails/Echo class as a May Series; 2 Day Regatta in early July; The Glin Castle Race in August and an October Series for IRC/Echo and White Sails.
  • Further development of the RWYCI Dingy Youth Training as a result of the gift of 2 Wayfarer Dinghies, which combined with the existing Laser and Optimist fleet, will greatly enhance our sailing instruction and the development of the new ISA Log Book Scheme.
  • Possible off season events to include social get-together, V.H.F H/T Courses, First Aid, Navigation and Yacht Master Courses.
  • The RWYCI will be hosting the West of Ireland Ocean Racing Association championship on the Shannon Estuary in 2016 and we will need to put together forward planning for this prestigious event in 2015. The Club requires a dedicated and active Committee established to plan and organise this event.

The RWYCI AGM is planned for Friday 27th of February 2015 in the Haven Arms at 20:00 hrs.  Attached is a copy of our membership application form, which if completed early in the New Year, will offer a substantial discount on membership.

Note: The Club will be refunding the 2014 October Series entry fees paid, as with only one Race held, the Series has been deemed invalid

With best wishes and good weather for sailing in 2015 from Adrian O’Connell & Committee
