Junior Dinghy Sailing started in 2012 following an initiative by Jim Carroll who wanted to encourage young people to take up sailing. Since then Junior Dinghy Sailing within the RWYCI, has gone from strength to strength with regularly 30 young people turning up each week.
We meet at Creek Lodge, Kilrush where we use the slip to launch the fleet. Kilrush Marina has kindly provided us with space in the adjacent boat yard for storing equipment and rigging dinghies. Currently we have club Wayfarers, GP14s, Topaz, Optimists, a Feva and Lasers available for members to sail.
Junior Dinghy Sailing meets every Saturday morning from 10am until around 1pm from May to September, weather permitting. Evening sailing also organised during summer. Junior sailors from beginners to those already with some experience are welcome along with their parents or guardians to help us on the day and share the excitement of sailing. Adult Dinghy Sailing is also organised through the RWYCI.
Sailors must be members of the RWYC and Junior or family membership is available (see (http://www.westernyachtclub.com/pay-online/).
