Adult Sailing Courses 2025
"The big boats get the glory but small boats make the sailors."
We are delighted to offer a number of adult dinghy sailing courses this summer. This is a brilliant course for anyone interested in learning to sail, dinghies or cruisers, and will be a fun and enjoyable activity for adults of all ages. The numbers on these courses are limited according to Irish Sailing guidelines to allow for more individual tuition.
The club has a new Hawk 20 keelboat along with a selection of single and two person dinghies including Topper, Topaz, RS Feva, GP14 and Wayfarer dinghies which are ideal training boats for adults. Courses are run by qualified instructors at Kilrush Marina. Our waters are non-tidal and a perfect place to start sailing or more advanced sailors may take sailing trips outside the marina in tidal conditions, subject to weather conditions.
The adult courses will include safety, rigging, launch and recovery, sailing manoeuvres including sailing upwind, downwind, tacking, gybing, coming alongside and picking up a man overboard, weather and tides.

Adult Dinghy Sailing
Adult dinghy sailing for members takes place on Saturday mornings. Club boats are available to rent to club members. Participants must have experience.

Seol Sionna run Seafaring Skills Courses for adults in the early summer each year.
The course offers a lovely introduction to sailing on a traditional wooden sailing boat. The boat 'Sally O Keeffe' was built for the purpose of training and offers a hands on experience 'learning as you do'.
