OUR ADVENTURES
Cruising 2021
November Cruise in CompanyThree boats travelled on Saturday afternoon, Sheeaun, Lucita and Amergin. Jimmy Bum had intended to sail but had to pull out due to engine problems. Undaunted however, Jackie and Donough joined two of the other boats and Niamh and Caoimhe drove to Foynes to join us for dinner.
After dreadful weather in the morning it improved significantly in the afternoon and we had a very nice sail all the way to Foynes with a following breeze and a strong tide pushing us along at a good speed. We arrived in Foynes around 18.30 in darkness! We had a great night in the Foynes Inn with dinner followed by a few drinks. Ronan and Simon joined us later for dinner as they had been on a power boat course during the day. The winds were still from the west on Sunday so it was a case of motoring back to Kilrush. Amergin had engine problems so had to sail back and Steven O’Brien kindly came out in his rib to two us into the marina from Cappagh Pier. A very enjoyable two days of cruising and a nice way to wrap up the season. |

Fenit Summer Cruise 2020
Four boats travelled on our Cruise in Company event to Fenit this weekend, Sally O’Keefe, Passade, Amergin & Daydream. Daydream was renamed while in Fenit and is now known by “Jimmy Bum”. We had a very easy passage down, motoring all the way. Some people went for a swim, others had a leisurely beer before walking down the causeway to the West End bar for dinner. We were very well looked after and had a great night. On Sunday Passade headed off to visit Ilauntanig in the Maherees, Sally had called on the way down. It was another beautiful day and we motored as far as Kerry Head when a nice sea breeze developed allowing us to sail the rest of the way back to Kilrush.

Cruise to Fenit, 7 – 8 SeptFive boats left Kilrush on Saturday 7th September and arrived in Fenit marina around 18.00 after a very pleasant sail in sunny weather. (Passade, Saronya, Serenity, Amergin, Sally O’Keefe) Raparee also sailed separately to Fenit and joined our company. After a short walk across the causeway to the West End Restaurant, we had a very enjoyable dinner followed by a few drinks and yarns in the bar afterwards.
After a leisurely morning the group set sail back to Kilrush arriving on Sunday evening. The weather for the return trip was not so nice with drizzle and poor visibility. |
End of season Cruise to Carrigaholt
9 - 10 November
After our very successful October series we were determined to get a bit more out of the season before lifting out the boats. Three boats left Kilrush on Saturday afternoon in a fresh breeze from the W. Passade, Amergin & Kitty). It was almost dark when we tied up at the pier in Carrigaholt. A few hot whiskies on board Amergin thawed us out before walking in to Carrigaholt for dinner in the Long Dock. As usual, the food and the craic was great. After dinner we moved the short distance up the road to Carmody’s for a few beverages to finish off the night. On Sunday we had a very enjoyable sail back to Kilrush with a favourable breeze.
