Notice of Race
1. ORGANISING AUTHORITY
The Organising Authority (OA) is the Royal Western Yacht Club of Ireland (RWYCI).
2. RULES
The Event is governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (SI's) 2021-2024, the prescriptions of Irish Sailing, the IRC Rating Rule parts A-C, the Irish Sailing ECHO Performance Handicap System, this Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions and any changes thereto.
3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The event is open to all types of cruisers and traditional sailing craft.
3.2 Participating boat owners or skippers must be a member of Irish Sailing.
3.3 IRC and ECHO ratings will be allocated by the OA.
3.4 Registration. To facilitate planning in line with Irish Sailing and Government Covid 19 restrictions, entry forms must be completed and returned by Oct 1st, 2021
3.5 Entry Fee. The Entry Fee for RWYCI members is €80.00 The Entry Fee for visiting boats is €100.00.
4. SCHEDULE
4.1 It is proposed to sail nine races in IRC and seven races in White Sails.
4.2 Time of the warning signal will vary depending on the tide. The schedule of races will be as directed in the Sailing Instructions.
4.3 Discounted lift in facilities available by appointment with Kilrush Marina, contact Simon on 0877774946.
4.4 Racing will take place on Sunday 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and Saturday 30th October 2021.
5. COMMUNICATION
5.1 Racing information will be communicated on an October Series Whatsapp Group and on VHF Channel 72 from the Committee boat.
5.2 Competitors will be added to the Whatsapp Group on receipt of completed entry form and entry fee.
5.3 The Sailing Instructions will be available on www.westernyachtclub.com.
6. VENUE
6.1 The venue will be Kilrush Marina and Lower Shannon Estuary.
6.2 Berthage for visiting boats competing has been kindly sponsored by Kilrush Marina, from Sept 25th to October 31st.
7. SCORING
7.1 The Low Points Scoring System of Appendix A shall apply.
7.2 Three (3) races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
7.3 When four (4) or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race score excluding her worst score.
7.4 If seven (7) or more races are completed a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.
8. PRIZES
Overall prize giving will take place on the final Saturday. Venue and time will be announced during the series on the Whatsapp group.
9. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk – see RRS 4 – Decision to Race. The Organising Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the event. The Royal Western Yacht Club of Ireland including its officers, employees and agents, the race management team, the support boats, Kilrush Marina and anyone helping to run the event shall not be liable for any loss, damage, death or personal injury however caused to the owner/competitor or crew as a result of their taking part in the event.
10. INSURANCE: Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of €3,000,000 per incident.
